IREX is an international non-profit organization that through innovative and leadership programs promotes lasting change at the global level. IREX facilitates individuals and local institutions to build key elements for a vibrant society: quality education, independent media, and strong communities.
To strengthen these sectors, program activities also include conflict resolution, technology for development, gender and youth. Founded in 1968, IREX has an annual portfolio of projects of more than $70 million and a team of more than 400 professionals worldwide.
IREX employs field tested methods and innovative uses of technologies to develop practical and locally oriented solutions with its partners in more than 100 countries.
IREX works with professional and community reporters, media managers, journalism trainers, civil society organizations to improve the quality of information available to citizens. The five-year program, funded by USAID, develops innovative approaches to a more open and sustainable media that provides Mozambican citizens with platforms for accountability and development engagement.
