sbn global

In 2010, the Scalling  Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement was launched to support national leadership and collective action to expand nutrition. The Nutrition Expansion Business Network (SBN) is one of four global networks that supports SUN member countries (along with the United Nations, Civil Society and Donor Networks).

SBN is facilitated by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and the UN World Food Program (WFP) and is also supported by a Steering Committee that includes senior private sector leaders.

SBN seeks to reduce malnutrition, in all its forms, by mobilizing investment and innovations by the private sector through actions and operations conducted in a responsible and sustained manner.

To achieve this goal, the SBN provides a neutral platform that serves as an intermediary in partnerships and collaborations between different businesses and all actors in nutrition at national, regional and global levels as a way to support the National SUN Movement's plans. We believe that when consumers demand improved nutrition, business will take action and national economies will grow.

The three main objectives of the SBN are:

  • Mobilizing business to contribute to reducing malnutrition, in all its forms
  • Making nutrition more aspirational, accessible and available to the consumer
  • Build the case for greater involvement of the business sector in nutrition among all actors

This is the only global business and nutrition platform with more than 300 members including multinational and national companies committed to improving nutrition worldwide.
